A doggo was left outside Metro East Humane Society (MEHS). The dog was infested with maggots and its fur was very matted.

According to reports, the dog was in such a bad condition that its gender could not even be determined because of all the matted fur. The Humane Society tried to help the doggo out by using IV fluids and later grooming it. However the Humane Society announced on their Facebook page that the dog, whom they decided to call Ruthie, passed away. The dog reportedly had kidney disease and when it was already administered medicines for its sickness, she suddenly crossed the rainbow bridge.
The Humane Society added in their post, “We are devastated that we couldn’t get her well enough to find a loving forever home, but are at peace knowing she felt loved by everyone at MEHS.”
The dog was microchipped but it was not registered so it is unclear who are the owners of the poor doggo.
