A woman named Michelle Cruz was on her way to the bus stop when she noticed the backpack. She said that she opened it and found a dead dog stuffed inside. The dog, a Chihuahua, was found at the intersection of NE 24th Ave. and Littleton Road in North Fort Myers. Cruz is a dog lover and was so traumatized by the incident. She then called a friend of hers to help with the situation. The two called Lee County Domestic Animal Services. Per the assessment, the dog might have died from an attack from another animal.
The women just want anyone to come forward if they saw anyone who pulled in and dumped the dog’s body on the side of the road. Authorities are now investigating the matter.
