The Indiana-based company announced the voluntary recall of their dog food, particularly the Chicken Recipe for Dogs, because of the health-related concern. To reach a wider audience, a recall notice was likewise posted at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website. The notice said that the bacteria were revealed after a testing conducted by the FDA. The problem is only to one batch and the distribution of such batch was already discontinued.
The batch was, however, already distributed in at least ten states namely California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Those who purchased it are asked to return it. They will be given a full refund.
Those who got infected with salmonella can have symptoms like diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Pets can be carriers and pass it on to other animals and even humans. Authorities are asking dog owners to be wary.
