Per the Greenfield Police Department, which owns the comfort doggo and police dog named Clarence, the doggo spent the past week with his handler in Pittsburgh so that he can help people who need emotional support. The dog and the handler worked with Pittsburgh Police Member Assistance Program and the dog provided comfort to the officials and staff of Tree of Life Synagogue, who either survived the shooting or witnessed it.
A man named Robert Bowers, 46 years old, walked into the synagogue over the weekend and started shooting. A total of 11 people were killed. The comfort dog already worked with people who were affected by a mass shooting back in 2017 when a gunman opened fire in Las Vegas and killed 58 people.
