A Siberian Husky was drowning in Lake Tahoe and police officers as well as bystanders worked together to save it. However, the dog died on Sunday.

Accordingly, the dog was hit by a vehicle on Saturday after escaping from its family’s hotel room. The driver and the passenger who were in the vehicle that hit the dog stopped to try and help the animal but they were bitten. The dog then went to Lake Tahoe and was “swimming aimlessly” when police arrived. The dog was able to swim back to a dock and police used a loop to get ahold of the animal. However, the dog was so frightened that it tried to get away from the officers. The dog was losing energy and was starting to drown. Bystanders started giving their coat to the dog when the animal was already on dry land.
It is unclear what cause the dog’s death because initially, he was showing signs of improvement. The dog owners said that despite the loss, they are grateful to the police and the community.
