Back in 2018, a boy named Ian Unger became viral because he sold pumpkins so that he can get his own diabetes alert dog. Now, that goal has been reached.
– A then five-year-old boy became viral.
– He was selling pumpkins to get a diabetes alert dog.
– The boy finally got a dog two years later.
The boy was only five years old back then and wanted to raise as much as he could to afford a diabetes alert dog worth $25,000. The doggo was a necessity for the boy because the dog can tell if the boy’s sugar levels are too high or too low. According to Unger, his dog will put its paw on his leg to signify that the sugar levels are dangerously high or low. If Unger will not pay attention to the doggo, it will bark and the barks will get louder until the boy understands what is happening.
Donations came pouring in for Unger after he became viral. The extra money from the donations went to organizations that catered to juveniles who have diabetes.
Although he raised the necessary money and got his dog, which he named Gunner, he is still selling pumpkins. The money from the pumpkin sales will be used to cover the costs of Gunner’s insurance.
