A blind man named Keith Valentine claims that he was thrown out of a pub together with his wife and his guide dog. The pub allegedly accused them of sneaking in through the fire escape.
– A blind man was at a pub with his wife and guide dog.
– He claims they were thrown out.
– The pub claims they were only being asked to move inside the pub and not stay in the terrace.
Valentine shared that the incident happened over the weekend at around 1 P.M. on Saturday. He identified the Royal Victoria Pavilion Wetherspoon’s pub as the pub that kicked them out. Accordingly, they were allowed to sit on the outdoor terrace of the pub. They ordered drinks and were given what they asked for by a waitress. They asked the same waitress if they could get water for their doggo, Dottie. Later, a different waiter came with the dog’s water bowl and told them they could not have the doggo in the pub. Valentine then asked to speak to the manager and was later told by the latter the same thing that the waiter told them. Valentine, his wife, and the guide dog were then asked to leave.
The pub later released a statement saying there might have been a misunderstanding because guide dogs are allowed in their pub. The pub shared, “The manager then intervened and apologized to the customer and said he believed the customer had misunderstood the situation and that he wasn’t being asked to leave, but simply to move inside the pub.” This was because doggos are now allowed on the terrace.
Valentine claims the pub has not reached out to him yet.
