Accordingly, the Humane Society of the United States flew the dogs and the cats to another area for them to be safe. All the animals can be adopted and were rescued from St. Landry Animal Care and Control and St. Martin Animal Shelter.
The dogs were taken to Virginia and distributed to different shelters and rescue organizations. Some were also taken to Georgia and South Carolina. The Humane Society hopes to have these dogs and cats re-homed because there will be more transports because of the storms that will hit the other parts of the country in the coming months.
