The owner of a dog motel in North Richmond is facing cruelty to animal charges after authorities closed down the facility and seized 25 mistreated animals. Animal Motel had generated multiple complaints from customers which alerted animal rights authorities.
An inspection was conducted which ended in the seizure of the animals. Four of them have been badly neglected, have not been fed and had thin bodies. The owner, Joseph Meyers denied the allegations but was found guilty and was sentenced to jail and ordered to pay fines.
The customers who left their pets at the Animal Motel can claim them at the city pound.
