A dog survived a crash 800 feet below a cliff? Unbelievable! Thomas McTevia and Tina Hoisington were killed when their ATV fell down the cliff in Coeur d’Alene.
But hope for the survival of the Dachshund they carried became a reality as rescuers spotted the dog in a hole 800 feet from Bernard Overlook. The dog had miraculously no serious injuries indeed.
A little bit of hope for a lost dog wouldn’t hurt right?
Laura Bess, McTevia’s sister, had an instinct that the dog was still out in the forest. Five rescuers were assembled to search for the lost Dachshund.

The family and friends waited on top of the cliff while the rescue was going on. McTevia’s son first spotted their pet and they couldn’t be happier. Daisy the dachshund survived.
“We knew she was out there,” McTevia’s sister, Laura Bess, told the Coeur d’Alene Press. “We just didn’t know if she was dead or alive.”
“To have this little bit of hope, and something to hang on to, to cheer for and love the way that he would have, that is just golden,” said Dena Hankins, one of McTevia’s friends.
